Colonial Surety Company was incorporated under the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on March 19, 1930. The Company is licensed in all 50 States, the District of Columbia and all US Territories (excluding American Samoa). The Company is Treasury Listed, for which we received our certificate of authority from the US Treasury Department in 1992, and as such, we are approved to serve as a surety on federal construction projects. Additionally, we are authorized to issue fidelity bonds covering all ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974) regulated pension plans, with the specific bond forms that have been approved and endorsed by the US Department of Labor. Colonial is rated A Excellent by A.M. Best Company.
Colonial is the only direct writer of surety, fidelity, and other pension related insurance products.
