NJ Motor Vehicle Commission Opens

06.26.2020

Attention New Jersey drivers! Governor Phil Murphy stated Friday that state Motor Vehicle Commissions offices can resume operations on June 15 for a plethora of pick-up and drop-off services. As they start opening their doors, the agency will commence behind-the-wheel tests and issuing novel permits and licenses on June 29.

During his daily COVID-19 briefing, Murphy stated, “We know that there is a lot of pent-up demand for these services, and MVC is ready, and has roughly tripled the number of road test examiners so to be able to complete roughly 16,300 tests per week.”

New Jersey has extended expiration dates to help people with expiring registration, licenses, temporary tags, and inspection stickers. License and registration renewals can be found online.

The agency is taking steps to make sure customers and workers are safe during the reopening. Social distancing is required at every office, staff must wear face masks while customers are also asked to cover their faces when entering the building. Plexiglass barriers are also being installed in the offices and floors must be taped and indicate safe spacing.
