Amazon announced its cloud-services provider, Amazon Web Services, recently fended off the greatest DDoS cyber-attack in history. Amazon web services, which offers the very infrastructure hundreds of companies rely on, defended itself against a Distributed denial of services, or DDoS, pounce with peak traffic volume of 2.3 tbps, the largest ever recorded.
The attack, which occurred February of this year, was a “reflection attack”, a devious attempt to utilize vulnerable third-party server to amplify the amount of data sent to a victim’s IP address.
“This is huge news for people in the cybersecurity industry,” stated Lisa Forte from Goat Cyber Security. “This will definitely be an alarming revelation to many and could be a warning we should not ignore.”
