Marriot International Faces Class Action Lawsuit Over Data Breach

08.24.2020

Millions of customers have just slammed the hotel giant Marriot International with a serious class-action lawsuit, demanding significant compensation after their sensitive information was stolen, in one of the world’s most significant data breaches ever. A technology consultant is leading the lawsuit after hackers had access to personal details of over 300 million guests.

In September of 2018, Marriot International revealed that hackers stole personal data, including passport numbers, credit card numbers, and the dates of birth of millions of guests from the company’s global guest reservation database. When the company investigated the breach, it concluded that certain individuals had been given unauthorized access to its system since 2014, and unidentified cyber-criminals had taken the information of 339 million people.
